Our Veterinarians
Dr. D'Lynn Thompson, DVM
Dr. Thompson graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1991 and has practiced in San Antonio since 1992. Dr. Thompson completed post-doctoral training for physical rehabilitation at the University of Tennessee in 2004, and she also completed the acupuncture certification training with IVAS in 2011. Dr. Thompson has utilized acupuncture and physical rehabilitation in her practice since 2001. Her special interests include integrative medicine, acupuncture, physical rehabilitation and laser therapy. Dr. Thompson is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. Her favorite hobby is dog agility competitions!
Dr. Eric Lange
Dr. Lange graduated in 1970 from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been caring for animals in San Antonio for 39 years. La Cantar is his third practice and was started in 2002.
He is former president of the Veterinary Medical Association of Bexar County and member of American VMA and the Texas VMA.
His hobbies include golf, golf and more golf!
Support Staff
Carol Ledbetter — Practice Manager
Carol has been with La Cantar Animal Hospital since its inception in 2002. She discovered her love of medicine at nursing school, but found her calling in caring for animals. She is responsible for keeping the hospital running smoothly and making sure that our clients and patients receive only the best care and service. Her family includes 4 children and 11 grandchildren. She also has a Yorkie named “Daisy,” two Scotties named “Emma” and “Olivia,” and a Shih Tzu named “Paddie.”
Gabby Rodriguez — Client Relations
Gabby joined La Cantar about 2 year ago and brought with her three years of client relations experience. She has her administrative medical assistant certification from Advanced Medical Training and Technology which helps her to provide exemplary service. Gabby enjoys welcoming our clients and helping them have a pleasant visit while their pet is in our hospital. She is interested in furthering her career in veterinary medicine as a technician some day. Gabby's family includes her husband, her 2 sons, and a baby girl on the way. She also has a turtle named "Spike" and a few fish all named "Nemo.
Kat Ortiz — Lead Veterinary Technician
Kat joined our hospital in 2005 and is currently completing her certified veterinary technician credentials through Penn State. Kat is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of patient care—whether in outpatient or in surgery. She makes sure the hospital is well stocked with all the most current therapies and contributes to the continuing education of our other nurses and assistants.
Her family includes two children. She has a Papillion named “Hercules” and an American Staffordshire Terrier named “Rayne.” Kat takes pride in seeing our patients thrive and stay healthy for years to come.
Jennifer Rountree — Veterinary Technician
Jennifer joined La Cantar Animal Hospital in 2006 and brought with her 5 previous years of
experience as a veterinary assistant.
She is constantly improving her skills and knowledge through regular on-line training courses.
She is particularly interested in surgery and provides very diligent intra-operative monitoring and
gentle post-surgical care. Jennifer stays busy outside of work with her little girl. Her pets include Oreo and Bayleigh the horse.
Dagi Henry
Dagi joined La Cantar in 2009. She brings positive energy and a gift for working with all animals, especially rescued pets. Dagi is active in the rescue community and specializes in Bouvier des Flandres and Chihuahuas.
